About the Artist
Functional ware holds a special place in my heart. Drinking my morning tea from a carefully crafted nerikomi mug helps me feel closer to the artwork itself. Choosing and serving food in a beautifully made pottery bowl turns an ordinary meal into something special. Picking out a vase that I spent hours designing makes the bouquet on my table even more beautiful. For me, this kind of pottery is art that slips into your daily life and enhances the every day moments.
Over the last few years I have been rediscovering my own creative voice by returning to my personal art practice after many years to find my own voice in clay. Each piece I make reflects that journey—slow, intentional, and made for people who want artful objects they can live with every day.
Nerikomi Love
Nerikomi is a slow, meditative process that centers on line, shape, pattern, and color. It begins by adding colorants to the clay, then forming slabs and “cakes” that are layered, stacked, and arranged into patterns and coils. These patterned cakes are sliced, handbuilt, or thrown on the wheel, then carefully scraped and sanded before their fist firing in the kiln. Every piece is a labor of love, patience, and deep dedication to the craft.
